PU starts spray campaign against dengue


LAHORE: (Tuesday, April 01, 2014): Punjab University Health Center with the collaboration of office of Resident Officer-II has started spray of insecticides for prevention of dengue fever. Spray teams consisting of 5 to 10 members will carry out the insecticide spray in different parts of both campuses including hostels on daily basis. Punjab University Chief Medical Officer Dr Nauman Ahmad said posters and leaflets were also being distributed amongst the university population regarding information and prevention about dengue fever and to ensure cleanliness of the varsity premises. He said this process of insecticide spray would continue till both the campuses and hostels were completely sprayed. He said a team of the Dengue Research Group has also started visiting the areas around hostel sites to collect water samples for larvae of Dengue mosquito. So far, the teams have not found any larvae of dengue mosquito from these sites. The teams will also ensure that the hostels are free from junk and waste material, he added.
