Follow traffic rules to avoid loss of life, property, says PU VC


LAHORE: (Friday, February 8, 2019): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed has said that obeying traffic rules can reduce accidents on the roads thus avoiding loss of life and property. He said that violation of traffic rules did not suit civilized nations and our religion also tells us to maintain discipline. He was addressing the seminar of road safety and traffic awareness at Al-Raazi Hall here on Friday organized by Punjab University and National Highways & Motorways Police. NH∓SSP Masroor Alam Kolachi, Registrar Dr Muhammad Khalid Khan, RO-I Jalil Tariq, Director Students Affairs Dr Asmatullah, Acting Treasurer Rao Muhmmad Tahir, senior administrative officers and a large number of students and drivers were present on the occasion.
Addressing the seminar, Prof Niaz Ahmad said that we should take care of others’ rights on the roads. He appreciated the role of NH∓for creating awareness among people regarding traffic rules and regulations and making them responsible citizens. SSP Masroor Kolachi said that traffic rules and regulations were changing rapidly and it was necessary to organize such activities for creating awareness among citizens. He said that mistakes of drivers, engineering fault of roads and mechanical issues of vehicles triggered road accidents while most of accidents were caused by mistakes of drivers. He said that there was need to introduce more initiatives for provision of driving licenses after professional training. He said that rules and regulations taught discipline in life. Later, souvenirs were distributed among the guests.
