UN’s role over Kashmir lamentable: PU VC LAHORE: (Thursday, September 12, 2019): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmed has said that the role of United Nations on Kashmir issue had been lamentable as if it could not resolve Kashmir issue then there is no use of UNO. He was addressing seminar on Kashmir issue organized by Punjab University in collaboration with Jammu Kashmir Solidarity Movement Organization at Al Raazi Hall here on Thursday. Daughter of General (r) Hameed Gull and Chairperson Jammu Kashmir Solidarity Movement Organization Uzma Gull, General (r) Ghulam Mustafa, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla, Bishop Abraham Denial, Sardar Akaash Singh, senior faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Addressing the seminar, Prof Niaz Ahmed said that the UN had successfully implemented its resolutions where she and some countries wanted to. He said that if UN could not play role in lifting curfew in the occupied area then it was a useless organization. He said that Kashmir must get their right of plebiscite. He said that Kashmir issue was the issue of survival of Pakistan and Pakistani nation, government and Pak Army stood with the people of Kashmir. He said that all minorities in Pakistan including Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and others support the people of Kashmir and condemn Indian atrocities. Ms Uzma Gul said that we should announce Jihad for freedom of Kashmir as international community would not present Kashmir to us in plate. She said that we must avoid the option of arbitration offered by the United States as it would be a deception. She said that the US wanted to make its presence in Kashmir in the disguise of United Nations. General (r) Ghulam Mustafa said that the people of Occupied Kashmir were fighting the war for survival of Pakistan. He said that no one would listen to us unless we prepare ourselves for war. He said that international community was not taking serious steps to remove curfew from the occupied area. PVC Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar said that Pakistan’s atomic power, geographical position and resources had attracted attention of the world. He said that we must strengthen our ties with China further and should expedite work on China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects, which were suffering from delaying tactics. He said that why human rights organizations in Pakistan and Malala Yousafzai were silent on violation of human rights in Kashmir? Bishop Abrahm Danial said that Christians expressed solidarity with the people of Kashmir. He said that Bishop of Srinagar had appealed to Vatican to raise voice in support of people of Kashmir through Church and condemn Indian atrocities over innocent Muslims. Sardar Akash Singh said that India was not a secular state rather it was following the philosophy of R.S.S. He said that all the minorities were not safe from extremist Hindus.
