PU emphasizes global textile standards, requirements

LAHORE: (Friday, April 06, 2012): The Department of Textile Engineering & Technology, in collaboration with Ministry of Textile Industry, Textile Testing International (TTI) and University of Management & Technology (UMT) conducted a short course on “Importance of Global Textile Standards & Compliance Requirements”. The course was attended by large number of people from textile industry in the middle management & senior management positions linked with textile products testing. The speakers, including TTI CEO Mr Hamid Lateef, Senior Manager Ali Ashraf, Director Institute of Textile & Industrial Sciences UMT Dr Nabeel Amin focused on textile testing and its compliance with international standards. The participants highly appreciated the standard of presentation and there was good interaction of audience with the speakers. They also lauded the Punjab University’s approach to launch textile technology discipline in the university and conducting a course for the value addition textile sector. Mr Awais Mazhar, Chairman Garment City Lahore & CEO Angora Textile limited addressed the participant and distributed certificates among them. He appreciated the efforts of Punjab University to launch a degree course in chemical processing of textiles and need of highly trained and practically oriented graduates required for textile processing industry.
