Student societies inculcate confidence, skills, positive thinking: PU VC

LAHORE: (Monday, May 4, 2026): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that student societies are essential for enhancing students’ knowledge, confidence, professional abilities, and positive mindset. He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a three-day All Pakistan Media Fest organized by the Pioneer Media Society, Department of Student Affairs at Faisal Auditorium here on Monday. On this occasion, Germany's Ambassador to Pakistan H.E Ms. Ina Lepel, Registrar Dr Ahmad Islam, DG SES Prof Dr Rehan Sadiq Shaikh, Director Student Affairs Dr Shahzeb Khan, Director Institute of Education Research Prof Dr Abdul Qayyum Chaudhry, Chairperson Department of Archaeology Dr Ifqat Mahar, faculty members and students were present. In his address, Prof Dr Muhammad Ali emphasized that along with academic education, the organization of co-curricular activities in universities is essential. He added that the three-day Media Fest will include various events for students such as musical programs, mushaira, panel discussion and other competitions. He appreciated DSA Director Dr Shahzeb Khan, saying that under his leadership, the performance of student societies at PU is creating a positive image of the university worldwide. He also praised the student society for arranging funding for such a large-scale event. More than 350 students from universities across Pakistan will participate in 13 competitions during the three-day All Pakistan Media Fest, providing them with an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents, creativity, and media skills. The event will feature a range of key activities, including Sufi performances, panel discussion, dinner, Sufi night, documentary and short film screenings, along with various media-related activities. These events will offer students a valuable learning and networking experience.
