15-Member Afghan Students' Delegation Visited Centre for South Asian Studies


A 15- Member Afghan student’s delegation, studying at Centre for Security, Strategy & Policy Research, University of Lahore visited Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), University of the Punjab, on Friday December 15, 2023. The delegation was headed by Dr. Rabia Akhtar, Director Centre for Security, Strategy and Policy Reseach, University of Lahore.
Dr. Naheed S. Goraya, Director CSAS welcomed the delegation. Dr. Goraya in her welcoming address said that both Pakistan and Afghanistan need to focus on societal, cultural and educational activities. She said that we cannot move forward unless we build new equilibrium. The students from Afghanistan shared their thoughts about Pakistan, its Culture, people and food. During the interactive session, Afghan students told that there had been a lot of communication gap between the people on both sides. The students were curious about having faculty and student exchange programme between both countries. Two Afghan female students among the delegation shared their views about the bottlenecks regarding Afghan women education in Afghanistan and how difficult it is to counter those challenges. Afghan students were of the view that Pakistan along with other Muslim Countries should convince Afghan government to ease restrictions for women education and they should be given equal fundamental rights.
Various Faculty members and students from different departments attended this interactive session.
