LAHORE: (Wednesday, August 05, 2026) Punjab University has witnessed a remarkable increase in applications for admissions to its Undergraduate Programmes 2026. According to the Punjab University spokesperson, the University received more than 25,000 additional final applications compared to the previous year. The spokesperson said that out of a total of 147,909 applications received this year, 113,182 applications were finalized. In comparison, during the first phase of admissions in 2025, the University received 120,395 applications, of which 87,831 were finalized. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali said that the record increase in applications reflects that Punjab University remains the first choice of students due to its high academic standards. He said that the significant rise in applications this year demonstrates the growing confidence of students in the University. He added that PU is utilizing all available resources to enhance students’ academic, co-curricular, research and professional capabilities. He said the PU is committed to producing talented, responsible, and ethical citizens who can make meaningful contributions to society, industry, and national development. The Vice Chancellor further stated that, for the first time, an AI chatbot has been introduced to facilitate the admission and entry test process, providing improved guidance and support to applicants.
