PU IPTE organizes workshop on sustainability, green productivity

LAHORE: (Saturday, September 12, 2026): Punjab University Institute of Polymer and Textile Engineering and National Productivity Organization, organized a workshop on “Awareness & Capacity Building Support to SMEs in Textile & Auto Sector on Just Transition, Climate Change, Green Productivity & Resource Efficiency.” On this occasion, PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mehmood Saleem, CEO NPO Alamgir Chaudhry, Director IPTE Prof. Dr. Shahzad Maqsood Khan, faculty members, researchers and students were present. In his address, Prof. Dr. Mehmood Saleem emphasized the importance of sustainability and green production, particularly in the polymer and textile sectors. He highlighted the need for applied research and practical initiatives to address climate change, resource efficiency, and sustainable industrial development. He stressed that universities, industries, and policymakers must work together to promote green productivity and support a just transition toward a sustainable economy. He underscored the role of innovation, research, and capacity building in creating a greener, more competitive, and climate-resilient industrial sector. Appreciating the organizers for their vision and commitment, he noted that such initiatives provide an important platform for strengthening academia–industry collaboration and translating research into practical solutions. He also encouraged the continuation of such activities and expressed his appreciation to the organizing teams for their efforts in advancing sustainable industrial growth.
