AI’s responsible, ethical use is vital for faculty: PU VC

LAHORE: (Tuesday, September 1, 2026): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of our daily lives and modern education. He further said that responsible, ethical, and effective use of AI is extremely important for our faculty members to keep pace with modern educational trends. He was addressing a certificate distribution ceremony for faculty members who completed a three-day training workshop on ‘Ethical & Effective Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ here on Tuesday. On this occasion, Director Skill Development Centre Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imtiaz Shafiq, faculty members and others were present. Speaking on the occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali lauded the efforts of the Skill Development Centre (SDC) for organizing a successful and need-based training for university teachers. He said that the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has already introduced AI in various academic disciplines and degree programs, making digital competence essential for higher education educators. Director SDC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Imtiaz Shafiq paid tribute to VC for his visionary leadership, continuous patronship, and keen interest in faculty development initiatives. He briefed the participants about the core objectives and outcomes of the hands-on workshop. The faculty members thanked the university administration and the SDC team for arranging the workshop. They shared that the training had significantly enhanced their day-to-day workflow, research activities, and instructional capabilities. Later, the Vice Chancellor awarded certificates to the participating teachers.
