LAHORE, October 22, 2026: Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICET), University of the Punjab, organized an engaging technical seminar on “Industrial Steam Production (Boilers) & Utilization (Turbines)” for graduate students of Chemical Engineering and Energy Engineering. The seminar was delivered by Engr. Muhammad Aslam, an ICET alumnus, Energy Consultant at Qarshi Industries, and former Deputy General Manager (DGM) at Dawood Hercules Fertilizer. |
The seminar attracted a large gathering of graduate students, reflecting their keen interest in practical industrial knowledge, energy systems, and the application of engineering principles in real-world process industries. The event was hosted and organized by Dr. Ayyaz Muhammad under the guidance of the Director ICET, Prof. Dr. Syed Nadir Hussain, as part of the Institute’s continued efforts to strengthen industry-academia linkages and enrich students’ academic experience through interaction with experienced professionals. Drawing upon his extensive industrial experience, Engr. Muhammad Aslam shared valuable insights into the fundamentals and practical applications of steam generation through industrial boilers and the utilization of steam in turbines for power generation and energy conversion. |

The session highlighted the engineering principles underlying boiler operations, steam generation, turbine performance, energy conversion, operational efficiency, and the importance of safe and reliable operation of industrial steam systems. The speaker connected theoretical concepts with practical industrial considerations, helping students appreciate the complexities of operating and managing energy systems in large-scale process industries. A key focus of the seminar was energy efficiency, operational reliability, process safety, and effective utilization of steam and power resources. Such practical exposure is particularly valuable for Chemical and Energy Engineering graduates, who are expected to contribute to the design, operation, optimization, and sustainable management of industrial processes and energy infrastructure. |

The seminar formed part of ICET’s broader commitment to providing students with opportunities to learn beyond conventional classroom instruction. By inviting accomplished alumni and industry experts, the Institute seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industrial practice, expose students to current engineering challenges, and prepare them for the technical and professional demands of the energy and process industries. A large number of students participation demonstrated the value of such knowledge-sharing initiatives and the potential of ICET’s alumni network to contribute to contemporary engineering education. The event also underscored the importance of sustained collaboration among the Institute, its graduates, and industrial organizations in promoting professional development, applied research, internships, and future career opportunities. |
Through such initiatives, ICET reaffirms its commitment to producing competent, industry-ready engineering graduates equipped to contribute to Pakistan’s industrial development, energy efficiency, and sustainable technological progress. |
