Beijing: In connection with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, a high-level international academic symposium was held at Peking University, Beijing, from September 4 to 7, 2026.

On the second day of the conference, a comprehensive session titled “China-Pakistan Scholars’ Urdu Forum & Conference on Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Department of Oriental Studies at Peking University” was held on September 6, 2026, in Conference Room 206 of the Department of Urdu, School of Foreign Languages, Peking University, under the chairmanship of Professor Kong Julan.

The session was attended by Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Dr. Baseera Amberin, Muhammad Arshad Bhatti, Mr. Ejaz-ul-Haq, Dr. Zafar Ahmad, and Dr. Zahid Anwar. Chinese faculty members and hosts, including Ms. Kong Julan ,Tang Mengsheng , Zhang Jiamei, Zhang Yabing, Zhou Yuan, Yuan Yuhang, and Kong Liang, also shared their views.

Academics from both countries presented their suggestions for promoting the Urdu language in China. A question-and-answer session was also held on the teaching of Urdu among Chinese teachers and students.

As a gesture of goodwill, professors from both countries exchanged books during the event. Following expressions of gratitude by Professor Thang and Ms. Kong Julan, the participants were given a tour of Peking University.
At the conclusion of the conference, a study visit to the Great Wall of China was also arranged for the Pakistani delegation.
