LAHORE: (Sunday, February 23, 2025): Punjab University Faculty of Computing & Information Technology (FCIT) organized its 14th Career Fair on Friday in its premises. On this occasion, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali, former VC, UET Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar, former Rector Virtual University Dr Naveed Malik, Dean Faculty of Computing & Information Technology Prof Dr Shahzad Sarwar, Senior Research Scientist Motive Nauman Sheikh, President PU ASA Dr Amjad Abbass Khan Magsi, various members of ASA and Syndicate, faculty members and a large number of students were present.

In his address, PU VC Dr Muhammad Ali said that we are taking initiatives to design the curriculum to produce graduates according to the needs of the market. He said that the stalls of renowned companies under one roof at PU will definitely give students an opportunity to know about the job market. He said that strong links between industry and academia are also important for the country's economy.
Dr Shahzad Sarwar said that the event was sponsored by Stewart Pakistan in which more than 60 leading IT companies from software industry set up their stalls to hire graduates of FCIT from a batch of around 500 coming from domains of computer science, software engineering and information technology. He said that these product and service based IT companies, contributed USD 3.2 billion to the economy of Pakistan in the year 2024, marking a robust 24 percent increase from the previous fiscal year. He said that FCIT is committed to make an impact by delivering quality IT education and enhancing Pakistan's share in the global market of software industry. He said that FCIT is the leading public sector institution of Pakistan which is producing skilled graduates who are working on key positions in multi-national and national IT companies. He said that participant companies conducted interviews and preliminary recruitment tests, collected CVs, presented technological trends and shared job descriptions/specifications of the available opportunities with the students.
Dr Shahzad Sarwar and Prof Dr Kamran Malik thanked PU VC Dr Muhammad Ali, notable guests, the organizers others. Students at the career fair were also enlightened about scholarships and entrepreneurship. This year various state-of-the-art final year projects (FYPs) were also presented which were appreciated by the visitors.
