LAHORE: (Monday, January 21, 2013): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has stressed the need to preserve art of calligraphy and urged the authorities concerned to take steps for promotion of the traditional art. He was addressing the certificate distribution ceremony at Senate Hall, Old Campus where certificates were distributed among the organizers of PU's first-ever calligraphy conference “Sarir-e-Khama: the Art of Pen” held in December.

PUCAD Principal Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masood, General Secretary Pakistan Calligraphy Association Irfan Qureshi, faculty members, employees and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Admiring the services of the college principal, Dr Kamran said that the college was being ignored since 40 years but its current leadership had taken it to new heights by taking initiatives and organizing creative and healthy activities. He congratulated college administration on successfully organizing calligraphy conference.

Dr Rahat Naveed said that because of special attention of the vice chancellor, the college had been able to organize the conference effectively. She said that the college had got a new identity at international arena of art. She also lauded the efforts of the organizers of the conference. Later, certificates were distributed among the organizers. PU VC also inaugurated newly-opened Day Care Centre, Design Studio and Architecture Studio at the college.
