LAHORE: (Thursday, January 24, 2013): In order to commemorate auspicious occasion of EidMilad-un-Nabi (PBUH), a special ceremony was organized by the Department of Botany, University of the Punjab on January 24th, 2013. All the faculty members, students and non-teaching staff of the Department participated in the function with great fervor and zeal. A detailed program was chalked out to celebrate the occasion. Students from different BS and MSc classes recited Naats with religious reverence. Lectures were delivered by some faculty members to pay homage and to highlight various aspects of the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Dr. A. N. Khalid, Associate Professor highlighted various aspects of prophet’s life as a source of constant guidance. Prof. (Emeritus) Dr. S. R. A. Shamsi stressed the need of following teachings of Islam and Holy Prophet (PBUH) that demands us to seek knowledge. He said that Muslims today lack authority in the world affairs as compared to their glorious past because they left the pursuit of scientific knowledge long ago. The ceremony ended with a combined Dua and Salam.
