LAHORE: (Thursday, January 31, 2013): “Aaghoosh-e-Qaber”, the translated version of renowned author and Chairman Punjab Education Foundation Raja Anwer’s book Qabar Ki Aaghoosh in Persian language, was launched on Thursday at a ceremony held at Punjab University’s Undergraduate Study Centre.

PU VC Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Raja Anwer, Prof Emeritus Prof Dr Syed Akram Shah, Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, the translator and Chairman Persian Department, Prof Dr Muhammad Nasir, the co-translator, Chairman Urdu Department Prof Dr Fakhrul Haq Noori, Moeen Nizami, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Kamran said that Raja Anwer’ observations and his message would now reach Afghanistan, Iran, Tajikstan and other countries because of the translation of his book in Persian. He said that Afghanistan was an invincible country and the Afghan nation had defeated all the powers that tried to occupy their land.

| The VC advised the students to develop reading habits. He also read some excerpts from Raja Anwer’s book Qaber Ki Aaghoosh. In his address, Raja Anwer lauded the expertise of translators and said that he did not read his book in Urdu, as he did not want to remind the miseries of the past, but read the Persian version twice. He said that all the feelings had been narrated in Persian language in the same tune. Dr Saleem Mazhar said that the book was full of feelings of sadness and happiness and he translated many pages with tears. Lauding the writing style of Raja Anwer, he said that for the first time he understood what Afghanistan was. Prof Dr Syed Akram Shah, Prof Dr Fakhrul Haq Noori and Moeen Nizami also spoke on the occasion while Dr Muhammad Nasir conducted the stage. |
