Introduction:

Rabi-ul-Awwal is one of the holy months of Islamic calendar. Its importance is that our Holy Prophet Hazrat MUHAMMAD MUSTAFA (SAWAW) was sent on this earth by ALLAH on 12th of this month. On Thursday, 24th of January 2013 a Meelad and Naat competition was arranged in the Department of Economics, University of the Punjab, to spiritually celebrate this sacred event.

Event details:

The event began with the recitation of Holy Quran and was followed by a heart-touching Hamd. Dr. Hafiz Khalil Ahmad opened the session by giving a brief note on the importance of this day and why Muslims all around the world celebrate it.

The next segment was a quiz competition among all the programs of the Department. This exercise was planned to jog the students' basic knowledge about the life of our beloved Prophet Hazrat MUHAMMAD (SAWAW).

Final remarks:

At the end of the event respected Chairman Prof. Dr. Hafeez ur Rahman announced the winners of the Quiz Competition and appreciated the organizing committee, the jury, the facilitator, the participants and the audience to play a valued part in their capacities in conducting such a spiritual religious event. He emphasized the students to not to forget their base ISLAM and to follow the teachings of Hazrat MUHAMMAD (SAWAW) in the true literal spirit.
