The Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, proudly announces the successful Ph.D. public defense of Ms. Asma Zafar, who presented her dissertation titled “Distress Tolerance, Social Support and Psychosocial Problems of Patients with Migraine.” The study was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Emeritus Dr. Najma Najam and contributes significantly to the growing body of research on the psychological dimensions of chronic health conditions.
The research examined the role of distress tolerance and social support in understanding and addressing the psychosocial problems experienced by individuals living with migraine. The findings highlight the importance of psychological resilience and supportive social networks in improving the well-being and quality of life of patients coping with this chronic condition.
The public defense was held on June 10, 2026, at the Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Director of the Institute, Prof. Dr. Iram Fatima, along with faculty members, postgraduate scholars, and students, attended the defense and engaged in a productive academic discussion on the psychosocial aspects of migraine and their implications for mental health practice and research.
