Director CSAS Presents Paper at International Webinar

Prof. Dr. Naheed S. Goraya, Director, Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), University of the Punjab, participated as a distinguished speaker in the Regional International Virtual Conference, titled "Global South Alliance for Equality, Accessibility, and Sustainable Development", held on 1 August 2026. The International Webinar was organised by Centre of Pakistan & International Relations (COPAIR)- Islamabad.
During the international webinar, Prof. Dr. Goraya presented paper on "Uniting the Global South for Climate Justice, Social Equity, and Sustainable Prosperity". Her presentation emphasized the urgent need for stronger collaboration among Global South countries to address climate change, promote inclusive development, reduce social inequalities, and advance sustainable prosperity through collective action, knowledge sharing, and equitable policy frameworks. The presentation highlighted the importance of climate justice as a prerequisite for sustainable development and underscored the role of regional partnerships in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Prof. Goraya stressed that countries of the Global South possess immense potential to shape a more equitable global order by strengthening cooperation in research, innovation, education, and policy dialogue.
The conference brought together renowned scholars, policymakers, and experts from various countries to exchange ideas on advancing equality, accessibility, and sustainable development through international collaboration. The participation of the Centre for South Asian Studies in this prestigious international forum reflects its continued commitment to academic excellence, policy-oriented research, and meaningful engagement with global challenges through international scholarly cooperation.
