PU ICET organizes condolence reference

LAHORE: (Monday, August 10, 2026): Punjab University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICET) organized a condolence reference in memory of its distinguished former teachers, Prof. Dr. Muhammad. Arif Butt (Ex-Vice Chancellor, PU), Prof. Dr. Asghar Ali Butt, Prof. Dr. Arshad Chughtai, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, to pay tribute to their remarkable lives, dedicated services, and lasting contributions to ICET and the field of Chemical Engineering. On this occasion, PU Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem, Vice Chancellor, UET Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir, Ex-Managing Director, SNGPL Engr. Rasheed Lone, Ex-Secretary Petroleum Engr. G. A. Sabri, Ex-Managing Director, PARCO Engr. Shahid Imam Sheikh, President, Sundar Industrial Estate Association Engr. Syed Maaz Mehmood, Director ICET Prof Dr Syed Nadir Hussain, senior faculty members, Prof. Dr. Zafar Rasheed, Prof. Dr. Javaid Ahmed, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Khan Durrani, ICET alumni, colleagues, Friends, and Family members of the late teachers of ICET were present. In his address, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Saleem paid tribute to the late teachers and highlighted their valuable contributions to the University and its academic community. Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir also shared his reflections and remembered the distinguished teachers for their outstanding services to engineering education. Prof. Dr. Syed Nadir Hussain highlighted the valuable services of the late teachers and their significant contributions to academic excellence, research, and the development of Chemical Engineering at ICET and the University of the Punjab. He expressed his gratitude to the PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali for taking a keen interest in organizing the condolence reference in honour of the legends of ICET-PU. He emphasized that these distinguished teachers played a vital role in strengthening the University through the provision of quality technical education, character building, mentorship, and guidance to generations of students, preparing them for successful professional careers and meaningful contributions to society. The occasion provided an opportunity for alumni, senior faculty members, and colleagues to share their personal memories and experiences. Engr. Rasheed Lone, along with other members of the ICET community, recalled the academic excellence, professional integrity, and personal qualities of the late teachers, as well as their profound influence on generations of students. The presence of family members of the late teachers made the occasion particularly meaningful. They shared their memories and reflections, while members of the ICET community expressed their respect, condolences, and solidarity with the bereaved families. As a lasting tribute to the late teachers, a Memorial Tree Plantation Ceremony was also held in which trees were planted in memory of late teachers by their family members. The memorial plantation symbolized the enduring legacy of the late teachers and the knowledge, values, mentorship, and inspiration they passed on to their students and colleagues. The participants prayed that Allah Almighty may grant the departed souls the highest ranks in Jannat-ul-Firdous.
