Department of Gender studies has organized a two day International Conference on Gender Studies on March 8 & 9, 2021, titled of Contemporary Gender Issues: Challenges & Opportunities |
More than 90 empirical papers were presented on 2nd day of the conference. Almost 57 presenters presented their empirical papers on different sub themes of conference and almost 43 national and international scholars presented their empirical papers online. Conference themes ranges from changing gender roles, human rights and laws, gender based violence, gender sensitized work, gender mental and physical health, gender equality in education, female migration in Pakistan and feminism and literature. Conference 2nd day was divided into four scientific sessions and in all session run in four parallel halls. All scientific sessions were chaired by directors, chairpersons and head of many renowned department of different institutes. |
Conference had representations of participants from all over Pakistan, along with international speakers and scholars from China, Italy, UK, Nepal, India, Morocco, Philippine. Day two ended with conference closing ceremony. Ceremony was attended by Mr. Ijaz Alam, Minister Human Rights Punjab, Prof. Dr. Muhammed Saleem Mazhar, Pro Vice Chancellor University of the Punjab and Dr. Muhammad Khalid Khan, registrar University of the Punjab and Prof. Dr. Francesco Petricone (virtually from Italy). |
Prof. Petricone shared his study being conducted in 13 countries including Pakistan about being women in the indigenous context. He also thanked Prof. Dr. Ra’ana Malik for collaborating with him for this study. Mr. Ijaz Alam shared the different initiative of government taken to facilitate working women and establishment new day care centers for to facilitate working women in Punjab. Prof. Dr. Muhammaed Slaeem Mazher shed light on importance of family and its role to make this world more conducive for all women. Session was ended with vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ra’ana Malik to honorable guests and participants. Shields and souvenirs were presented to the honorable guests and organizing team of the International Conference on Gender Studies. |
