LAHORE: (Wednesday, September 27, 2023): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood has said that a clean, green and peaceful environment is necessary for the development of tourism in the country. He was addressing an awareness walk, seminar on World Tourism Day organized by Punjab University College of Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES). On this occasion, Principal CEES Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmed, Director General University of Management Technology Abid Hussain Sherwani, faculty members and a large number of students were present. In his address, Dr Khalid Mahmood said that by traveling, a person can improve his environment by learning different cultures and ways of living. He said that humans have contributed to destruction of environment and it is a good omen that students are providing awareness to fix this problem. He said that a large part of the economy of many countries is related to tourism. He said that practical measures are needed to promote tourism in Pakistan. He said that the students of College of Earth and Environmental Sciences under the leadership of Dr Sajid Rashid will play the role of ambassadors to promote tourism. Dr Sajid Rashid said that it is everyone's responsibility to make the environment pleasant and green for promoting tourism in the country. He said that PU CEES will continue to encourage students for a clean, peaceful and pleasant environment. On this occasion, awareness stalls were also set up by the students regarding tourism and environment. Later, an awareness walk was organized under the leadership of Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood.
