LAHORE: (Monday, October 9, 2023): Punjab University journalism students visited PU Printing Press as part of their study tour to get practical knowledge about design, pasting, plate and printing sections on Monday. A 20-member student delegation of BS 6th Semester Print Journalism class headed by Associate Professor Dr Shabbir Sarwar called on PU Director Press and Publications Mr. Ali Ahmad. The students had an interactive session with the director, who gave a briefing on the four types of printing with special focus on off-set printing. He also informed the students about various sections of the press and modern trends of printing. Responding to student queries, Design and Graphic In-charge Muhammad Kamil Qureshi explained about editing softwares, 256 million colour variations and four colour separations under CMYK rule. He also gave briefing about the colour separations mechanism. Press Supervisor Aqeel Shahzad took students to the round of various sections of the printing press and thoroughly explained how the printing of newspapers, magazines and books is done in offset printing. He explained the process from pre-press work to offset printing, cutting, folding and binding in detail. Dr. Shabbir Sarwar thanked the press management for their facilitation and practical knowledge dissemination among students.
