July 22, 2026---The Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB), University of the Punjab, proudly congratulates two of its Ph.D. scholars, Ms. Shumaila Moazzam and Mr. Farhad Khan, on the successful defense of their Ph.D. viva voce examinations held on 22 July 2026.

Ms. Shumaila Moazzam successfully defended her doctoral research entitled "Identification of MicroRNAs Associated with Anthracycline Resistance in Cancer Cells and Their Modulation for Resistance Reversal" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kausar Malik. The external examiners for Ms. Shumaila Moazzam's Ph.D. defense were Prof. Dr. Ikram-ul-Haq, Distinguished Professor Emeritus and Founder of the Dr. Ikram ul Haq Institute of Industrial Biotechnology at Government College University Lahore, and Prof. Dr. Waseem Shehzad, Professor at the Institute of Biochemistry & Biotechnology, University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore.

Mr. Farhad Khan successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis entitled "Investigation of RXLR Effector Proteins in Transgenic Potato Against Phytophthora infestans" under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Idrees Ahmad Nasir and Prof. Dr. Bushra Tabassum. The external examiners for Mr. Farhad Khan's Ph.D. defense were Prof. Dr. Hamid Mukhtar, Professor of Biotechnology and Former Director of the Institute of Industrial Biotechnology, Government College University, Lahore, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan, Professor at Forman Christian College University (FCCU), Lahore.
