Vice Chancellors from Bangladesh visit PU

LAHORE: (Tuesday, May 19, 2026): A high-level delegation of senior academicians from the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, led by its Chairman Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed, visited Punjab University and met Chairman Admission Committee, Professor Dr. Mehmood Saleem in the committee room of Vice Chancellor office here on Tuesday. The 15-member delegation included Prof Dr. Masuma Habib and Prof Dr. Mohammad Ayub Islam from UGC Bangladesh, Vice Chancellor University of Rajshahi Prof Dr. Faridul Islam, Vice Chancellor University of Chittagong Prof Dr. Mohammad Al-Forkan, Vice Chancellor Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Prof Dr. Abdul Latif, Vice Chancellor North South University Prof Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor State University of Bangladesh Prof Dr. Akhter Hossain Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh Prof Dr. Shamsad Mortuza, Vice Chancellor Daffodil International University Prof Dr. M. R. Kabir, and other distinguished academicians. Among others present on the occasion were PU Director External Linkages Prof Dr. Yaamina Salman, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan Project Director Saima Naurin and other officials. During the meeting, members of the Bangladeshi delegation expressed their keen interest in strengthening academic ties with Pakistani universities. They described PU as one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in the region and said they were delighted to visit the university. The delegates emphasized the importance of collaborative research, academic partnerships, and the exchange of faculty members and student delegations between the two countries. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr. Mehmood Saleem said that PU warmly welcomes academic collaboration and exchange programs involving teachers, researchers, and students. He also briefed the delegation on the university’s academic achievements, research initiatives, and infrastructural projects. The visit aimed to promote academic collaboration and deepen mutual understanding between the higher education institutions of Pakistan and Bangladesh. The delegation’s visit reflected the growing importance of regional academic cooperation and people-to-people connectivity in higher education. The interactions between Pakistani and Bangladeshi institutions are expected to pave the way for enhanced cooperation in academic excellence, innovation, and cultural understanding. Later, souvenirs were exchanged among the distinguished participants.
