PU ICET organizes Industrial Advisory Board meeting

LAHORE: (Saturday, August 22, 2026): Punjab University Institute of Chemical Engineering & Technology (ICET) has organized an Industrial Advisory Board Meeting for curriculum revision and developing new programs. The meeting was attended by Director ICET Prof Dr Syed Nadir Hussain, President Sudar Industrial Association Engr. Syed Maaz Mehmood, Expert at Environmental Protection Agency Engr. Usman Azhar, Consultant Berger Paints Engr. Dr Sheraz Ahmed Qureshi, Deputy Chief Manager NE≻Engr. Dr. Arfan Ul Haq Subhani, GM PARCO Engr. Amar Abbad and Head Technical Operations Fauji Foods Ltd. Engr. Ifzal Akhter.
In his address, Prof Dr. Syed Nadir Hussain briefed about the revised curriculums of BSc Chemical Engineering and BSc Chemical Engineering with specialization in Petroleum and Gas, MS Process Safety and Management and BSc Food Engineering Curriculum (new programs at ICET for 2027 intake and onwards). He said that during his tenure as director, new labs related to Paint manufacturing & research, Water treatment, Process simulation, Energy & sustainable environment, have been established along with the purchase of two new equipment for main chemical engineering lab, Installation of 30 KW solar system, renovation of ICET library and installation of LEDs at classrooms by engaging ICET Alumni. He said that we have plans for the future developments at ICET and improving the quality of education through curriculum revision, faculty capacity development at par with international standards. Moreover, he mentioned that as PEC is now a member of Washington Accord and Chemical Engineering graduates from ICET are registered members of PEC and can secure jobs at international organizations. All industrial experts as IAB members highly appreciated the comprehensive revision of the existing curricula and the inclusion of new undergraduate and graduate programs in response to emerging industrial needs and international academic standards. They acknowledged the Institute’s commitment to incorporating contemporary knowledge, emerging technologies, industry-relevant skills, and practical competencies into its academic programs. The members expressed their support for these initiatives and emphasized that such continuous curriculum enhancement and program development will significantly contribute to improving the employability, professional competence, and global competitiveness of ICET graduates. They also shared valuable suggestions and recommendations for further strengthening the curricula, incorporating emerging technologies and industry trends, and enhancing the overall academic and professional development of graduates.
