PU ICS organizes seminar on "Pakistaniat" LAHORE: (Tuesday, October 24, 2017): Former Corps Commander Mangla Lt.Gen (Retd) Ghulam Mustafa urged the students to accord top priority to country and fulfill their obligations by offering their unconditional services for the cause of promotion of brotherhood in every sphere of life to foster the motherland. Speaking as chief guest at a seminar on “Pakistaniat” organized by the Institute of Communication Studies, Punjab University, he said now its high time for youth especially educated to come forward and play their positive role injecting the cause of introduction of positivity in the life style of the people so that they could contribute towards all the time giving vital importance to Pakistaniat. He stressed the urgent need for practicing the motto of the father of the nation the Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah “Unity,Faith,Discipline” to make country a citadel of Islam and welfare oriented state among the entire Muslim Ummah. He said that nation has pinned high hopes on educated youth to help strengthen forge unity among the people from all walks of life and contribute towards nation building in all sectors. He said that now students should exercise their sphere of influence in the society to create awareness among the masses about the conspiracies being hatched against the country by some disgruntled elements having vested interests and foil their nefarious designs.Lt.Gen (Retd) Muhammad Ashraf Saleem former Ambassador to Nigeria speaking on the occasion suggested and demanded that government must allocate 60 per cent of total seats on merit while 40 seats for the students of all other provinces including federal capital and Azad Jammu and Kashmir in all the educational institutions especially medical and engineering universities across the country to strengthen national cohesion and provide equal opportunities to less privileged people. He said that it is need of the hour and on the other hand it is constitutional binding on the government of all provinces including federal government to ensure equal opportunities to all at par with develop cities keeping in view of the ground realities. PAF Base Commander, Air Commodore (Retd) Khalid Farooq Chishti screened the documentary on the Quaid-I-Azam which reflected the highest degree of patriotism demonstrated by him during his life span. He said the Quaid-I-Azam never spent even a single penny from national exchequer for his personal benefits. He said that his sister Fatima Jinnah was also not allowed to make use of state expenses for personal use which speaks of his earned desire to promote “Pakistaniat”. He urged the students to follow the footprints of the father of the nation in true leter and spirit. Incharge ICS Prof Dr.Noshia Saleem thanked the guests for delivery thought provoking speeches for inculcating the spirit of brotherhood and presented bouquets of flowers to them. Later military commanders paid a courtesy call to VC PU Prof Dr.Zaffar Mueen Nasir who requested them to deliver such lectures in all teaching departments and PU will organize seminar on same topic next month.
