PU HCBF marks insurance day


LAHORE: (Saturday, May 11, 2019): Regional Committee of Insurance Association North in collaboration with Punjab University Hailey College of Banking & Finance celebrated Insurance Day. Objective of this celebration was to apprise the younger generation, acquiring education in the discipline of insurance & risk management, of the emerging trends in insurance industry.
Muhammad Saeed, Chairman of the Regional Committee briefed the students about the role being played by the Insurance Association of Pakistan (IAP) in this regard. He stressed upon need for continuous upgradation of working executives as well as the faculty imparting education in this discipline to keep the graduating students fully aware of the current developments in the insurance business. He assured the college management of all-out support in the advancement of education in this discipline. Speaking at the occasion, the principal presented a detailed review of the existing insurance business being generated by the companies both in the life and non-life sectors. He discussed in detail the factors causing low rate of penetration and suggested measures to be adopted to give a boost to these important sectors. He stressed upon the need to strengthen the industry – academia linkages to add value to the curriculum being taught to the upcoming generation of insurance executives. He elaborated in detail the developments taking place globally and expressed his confidence that the IAP will take initiative to keep the stakeholders abreast of these developments. He expressed his gratitude to the IAP for their support in refurbishing of the auditorium of the College. Mr. Kaifee Siddiqui of IGI, Mr. Shayan of Hamid Mukhtar and Mr. Usman of AON Group also highlighted different dimensions of emerging trends in the Insurance business. Mr. Emmad and Ms. Khadija Saeed, students of Insurance & Risk Management, also spoke at this occasion. The participants offered Surah-e-Fateha for the departed soul of legendary Muhammad Ishaq Khan and praised his efforts for the promotion of the cause of insurance education, training and development.
