Annual Alumni Dinner IMME


To enhance networking and maintain close connections among alumni, the Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (IMME), Faculty of Chemical and Materials Engineering hosted the “Annual Alumni Dinner” on May 18, 2024, at the Executive Club, University of the Punjab, Lahore. During the inaugural session, each alumnus was presented with a rose tagged with their name and session. The event commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran by Mr. Talha Khan (undergraduate student of IMME).

In the welcome address, Dr. Ameeq Farooq, the alumni focal person of IMME, expressed gratitude to all alumni for taking the time to reunite with their teachers and classmates, network with other alumni, visit their Alma-mater, and attend the dinner. He emphasized the importance of alumni support in curriculum development, inspiring undergraduates and facilitating job and internship placements. Dr. Ameeq Farooq then invited the alumni to introduce themselves and share suggestions for the institute improvement. He also extended his thanks to the organizing team members Muhammad Haris Qureshi, Talha Khan, Ali Haider and Bisma Liaqat Javed for their efforts to make the event successful.

Annual Alumni Dinner was attended by Prof. Dr. Javaid Ahmad, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Taqi Zahid Butt and Prof. Dr. Rafiq Ahmad who are the alumni of the institute as well as serving the institute as Dean and Principal. Ex-Senior General Manager (SGM) of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) Liaquat Raza who is the alumnus of the institute also attended the dinner. The chief guest of the Alumni Dinner was Ahmad Hassan, CEO, Chenab Engineering Works and Foundries Pvt Limited, he is also the alumnus of this institute.

In the closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Mohsin Ali Raza, Director, IMME, expressed his gratitude to all the alumni for attending the meet-up and making the event memorable. He highlighted the institute’s strong connections with its alumni and the pride IMME takes in their achievements. Prof. Dr. Mohsin Ali Raza announced that the institute will soon introduce new specialized degrees, including M.Phil Materials Science & Technology, M.Sc. in Computational Materials Engineering and M.Sc Corrosion and Surface Engineering. Additionally, he shared plans for alumni scholarship aimed at supporting talented and deserving students, encouraging alumni to contribute to this initiative.

At the end of the session, souvenirs were presented to Ahmad Hassan, Prof. Dr. Javaid Ahmad, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Taqi Zahid Butt, Prof. Dr. Rafiq Ahmad and Liaquat Raza. The event concluded with a group photo and delightful dinner served to the alumni.
