LAHORE: (Tuesday, May 12, 2026): Punjab University professor emeritus Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan, has been declared distinguished speaker at the World Fisheries and Aquaculture Development Summit (WDAFS) held in Portland, USA. The recognition not only celebrates Prof Khan’s individual achievement but also reinforces PU’s growing reputation as a center of academic distinction and intellectual leadership. Dr Khan presented his research paper titled “Indus Waters Treaty Suspension Threatening Pakistan’s Aquatic Biodiversity and Ecosystems” and his participation at the global forum provided an opportunity to share insights, exchange ideas, and strengthen international academic partnerships. During his presentation, Prof. Dr. Khan highlighted the environmental and ecological implications of the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, emphasizing its potential impact on Pakistan’s aquatic biodiversity, river ecosystems, and fisheries sector. He stressed the importance of regional cooperation and sustainable water management for the protection of natural resources and environmental stability. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Muhammad Naeem Khan expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in addressing emerging academic and professional challenges.
