PU Senate approves Rs. 170 million scholarships for students

LAHORE: (Thursday, September 25, 2025): On the directions of the Governor of Punjab, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali presided over the 361st meeting of the PU Senate as Chancellor. Deans, heads of departments, professors, representatives from various departments attended the meeting held at PU Senate Hall (Old Campus) here on Thursday. The meeting approved the provision of Rs. 170 million in scholarships to students as per previous practice. The first-ever strategic plan was also presented in the meeting according to the future needs of PU. In his address, PU VC Prof Dr Muhammad Ali said that under the strategic plan, academic, financial and administrative matters will be improved. He said that a heavy majority of PU students get university scholarships. He said that no student will drop out of education due to fees. He said that this year, PU will provide a subsidy of Rs. 219,000 to each student. He said that a subsidy of Rs. 1.5 lac will be given to each student of the hostel. He said that a subsidy in this regard has been increased. He said that an endowment fund will be established for research, pension and development. He said that Rs. 240 million has been saved in electricity in the last 8 months. The meeting approved the recommendations of the Academic Council. The meeting also approved the budgets for 2024-25 and 2025-26.
