LAHORE: (Wednesday, September 23, 2026): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali inaugurated the University’s new affiliation portal and released the affiliation report for the academic sessions 2025–2026 and 2026–2027, highlighting significant progress in digital transformation, expansion of affiliated colleges, increased student intake, and diversification of academic programmes. The inauguration ceremony was held at the PU Vice Chancellor’s Office Committee Room on Wednesday in which Chairman Affiliation Committee Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Convener Law Affiliation Committee Prof. Dr. Shahbaz Ahmad Cheema, Members of Affiliation Committee, Director General Prof. Dr. Rehan Sadiq Shaikh, Director DSA Dr. Shahzeb Khan, and other senior officials were also present. Addressing the ceremony, PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali said the report reflects the University’s continued commitment to transparency, efficiency, and the promotion of quality education across its affiliated colleges. He appreciated the Affiliation Branch for successfully digitizing all affiliation records, saying the initiative would ensure better record management, greater transparency, and easier access to information. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram said the newly launched online affiliation portal would enable colleges to submit applications digitally for new affiliations, extensions, and increases in student intake limits. The portal will also facilitate the online transmission of affiliation notifications and allow colleges to view key information, including their names, approved student intake, and affiliation sessions. He added that affiliation data would be automatically transmitted to the registration portal, enabling affiliated colleges to enter student enrolment information more efficiently. According to the report, revenue collections recorded a significant increase in both private and public sector colleges between the 2025–2026 and 2026–2027 academic sessions. Private sector colleges recorded revenue collections of Rs. 2.83 crore in 2025–2026, which increased to Rs. 5.40 crore in 2026–2027, representing an increase of more than 90.1 percent. Similarly, collections from public sector colleges increased from Rs. 3.94 crore to Rs. 8.82 crore, reflecting an increase of more than 123.6 percent. The report further revealed that 10 new public sector colleges and 25 private sector colleges received affiliation from PU. The University continues to enhance its affiliation system, expand academic opportunities, and strengthen collaboration with affiliated colleges. These initiatives are aimed at improving access to quality education and contributing to the development of Pakistan’s education sector. PU reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education, promoting innovation, and developing a stronger and more inclusive education ecosystem for the future.
