Australian artist work displayed at PUCAD

LAHORE: (Monday, July 04, 2011): A pictorial exhibition titled “The Kindness of Strangers,” by Australian artist Murtaza Haq, was organized in the Anna Molka Art Gallery of Punjab University College of Art and Design (PUCAD) here on Monday.

Renowned artist Rashid Rana inaugurated the exhibition. PUCAD Principal Prof Dr Rahat Naveed Masud, faculty members and a large number of students and art-lovers were present on the occasion.

Talking to media after inauguration of the exhibition, PUCAD Principal Dr Rahat Naveed Masud said Australian artist had visited various countries of Europe and he had come to Pakistan through Hunza valley and this exhibition was reflection of his experiences.

Faculty members and the students highly appreciated the quality artistic and eye- catching work of Murtaza Haq. The exhibition will continue till July 9.

Having developed his aesthetic through the unique medium of aerosol, the works of Australian artist Murtaza Haq, also known as “Silkor”, exhibit a tragic love for tenacious human relations and a hopeful search for profound ultimate good. “The Kindness of Strangers” is the first of a two-part series of installations which document his extensive travels in an intimate light; using expression and negative space to expose the faces of the many unseen and also to explore the concept that within personal particulars, there lies an ongoing truth which binds us all.
