One Day Workshop on Mixed Methods Research using SPSS & NVivo Software

One Day Workshop on Mixed Methods Research using SPSS & NVivo Software

Office Of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC)

WORKSHOP FOR RESEARCHERS

ORIC - A PIONEER IN RESEARCH INNOVATION & COMMERCIALIZATION
The Office Of Research Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) now proudly announces the workshop for professionals and Researchers:
Mixed Methods Research using SPSS & NVivo Software
Details for the said workshop are as follows:-

Mixed Methods Research using SPSS & NVivo Software
Workshop Objectives: QSR International Company introduced NVivo Software for Qualitative Data Analysis. Researchers can easily handle qualitative data using NVivo Software for finding themes and building models based on different qualitative research strategies e.g., Case Study, Grounded Theory, Ethnography, Narrative, Phenomenology and Action Research. Whereas, Proficiency with statistical software packages is indispensable today for quantitative research. SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) is one of the most widely available and powerful statistical software packages. It covers a broad range of statistical procedures that allow researcher to summarize data (e.g., compute means and standard deviations), determine whether there are significant differences between groups (e.g., t-tests, analysis of variance), examine relationships among variables (e.g., correlation, multiple regression), and graphical presentation of data). The purpose of this workshop is to provide hands-on training on both NVivo and SPSS software.
Contents:
Mixed Methods Research: Defining and Understanding of Mixed Methods Research Design: Exploratory Transformative, Explanatory Transformative & Convergent Triangulation.
Quantitative Data Analysis: Introduction to SPSS, Defining Variables & Data Coding, Entering Data into SPSS, Data Transformations, Differential Hypothesis, Associational Hypothesis, Reliability Test, Descriptive Statistics, Measurement of Central Tendency (Mean, Mode, Median, Standard Deviation, Frequency Tables), Charts and Graphs (Histogram, Pie Chart, Bar Charts), Cross tabulation, Chi-Square for Cross Tabs, Chi-square test for single variable experiments, Chi-square test of independence between two variables, Procedures for Comparing Groups (Independent Samples T-Test, Dependent ‘Paired' Samples T-Test, One-way ANOVA), Procedures for Exploring Relationships (Bivariate Correlation, Simple Regression, Multiple Regression).
Qualitative Data Analysis: Qualitative Research, Important Concepts, Movement from Pre-Empirical Stage to Empirical Stage of Research, Difference between Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods, Case Study Research (Exploratory, Explanatory & Descriptive), Grounded Theory, Ethnography, Action Research, Narratives & Phenomenological Research), Qualitative Data Collection Methods (Observations, Focus Group, Document Review, Interviews, Blogs etc.), Observational Exercise, Quality Criteria of Qualitative Research, Participant's Interviews, Real Audio & Video Recordings, Data Sets in spread sheet, Introducing NVivo and Setting up a Project, Working with Documents, Videos, Audio files, Images and Datasets & Classifying, Sorting, Organizing Material, Transcription of Videos, Identifying themes, Topics or Ideas and Collecting Data to Support them, Introducing & Creating ‘Nodes', Working with Themes and Ideas. Classification of Data, Text Analysis Tools including Tree Maps & Cluster Analysis, Word Tree Maps, and Word Clouds using Text Search Quires, Metrics Coding Query & Word Frequency Query. Shaping findings into Models and Relationships.
Who Should Attend: This program is for students, scholars of MSc, MBA, MS/MPhil & Ph.Ds; Deans, Faculty Members from different departments e.g., Management Sciences, Anthropology, Archaeology, Psychology, Sociology, Commerce, Economics, Linguistics, Education, Communications Studies, International Relations, Criminology, Information Sciences and other researchers who are pursuing their independent study, Thesis/Dissertation and looking for both Quantitative and Qualitative Data Analysis Techniques. So the aim of this workshop is to provide a unique opportunity to use “SPSS” and “NVIVO” Software in Mixed Methods Research Design.
