PU VC inaugurates new tube well to ensure better water facilities for students

LAHORE: (Wednesday, June 10, 2026): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Ali inaugurated a new tube well for New Campus hostels to ensure improved access to clean and quality drinking water for students. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chairman Admission Committee Prof Dr. Mahmood Saleem, Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr. Muhammad Akbar Khan, Acting Chief Engineer Prof Dr. Hamid Sattar, DG Student Affairs, Estate and Security Prof Dr. Rehan Sadiq Sheikh, Director Student Affairs Dr. Shahzaib Khan and faculty members. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali said that PU is continuously taking measures to provide the best possible facilities to its students. He emphasized that the uninterrupted supply of clean drinking water to students residing in hostels remains one of the university administration’s top priorities. He directed the concerned officials to maintain an effective monitoring system to ensure the provision of essential facilities in hostels as well as academic and administrative buildings, enabling students and employees to benefit from a conducive environment. Briefing the participants, Prof Dr. Hamid Sattar stated that, for the first time, the tube wells at New Campus have been connected to an online monitoring system. This initiative will not only make water supply management more efficient but will also significantly reduce operator-related costs. He further explained that the tube wells will operate using inverter technology, which is expected to reduce electricity consumption by 15 percent. He added that the initiative will help save financial resources while improving the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of the water supply system.
