Chinese delegation visits PU to explore academic collaboration

LAHORE: (Wednesday, July 01, 2026): A high-level Chinese delegation visited Punjab University and held a meeting with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali in his office to discuss avenues for strengthening academic cooperation between Pakistan and China here on Wednesday. The delegation included Dean of Lanzhou Resource and Environment Vocational and Technical University, China, Mr. Zhang Min, Executive Vice President of the Business Center, TANG International Education Group, China, Ms. Liu Ying, CEO of TANG International Education Group, Pakistan, Mr. Song Jianying; and other representatives. Director Institute of Space Science Prof. Dr. Syeda Adila Batool, Director ODL Prof. Dr. Syed Amer Mahmood, member syndicate Dr. Amer Masood and other faculty members also attended the meeting. The discussions focused on exploring opportunities for academic collaboration between PU and the TANG International Education Group, with particular emphasis on enhancing bilateral cooperation in vocational and higher education. Both sides expressed their commitment to supporting localized talent development initiatives aligned with Pakistan’s national priorities and promoting educational exchanges under the framework of the Pakistan-China strategic partnership. The meeting also deliberated on the proposed establishment of a Pakistan-China Meteorological Service Promotion Base at PU. The proposed collaboration would cover meteorological training and capacity building, development of professional standards, industry-academia integration, academic exchanges, and long-term institutional cooperation in meteorological sciences. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali warmly welcomed the delegation and emphasized the importance of expanding academic collaboration between Pakistan and China. He stated that PU is committed to strengthening academic, scientific, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges with Chinese institutions. He reiterated that the enduring friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China continue to create new opportunities for cooperation in higher education, research, innovation, and human resource development. The Chinese delegates appreciated PU's academic achievements and research potential and expressed their keen interest in establishing long-term partnerships in education, research, and professional training.
