PU VC distributes Rs 2.3m among PU top athletes of National Games

LAHORE: (Thursday, June 4, 2026): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali stated that individuals associated with sports are rendering a valuable national service, as they not only promote Pakistan’s soft image through sports but also engage young people in healthy activities, keeping them away from drugs and other negative influences. He expressed these views while addressing an award distribution ceremony organized by the PU Sports Directorate for students who demonstrated outstanding performance in world rowing, 35th National Games and All Pakistan Inter-University Competitions. The event was attended by Director Sports Dr. Shabbir Sarwar, DG SES Prof. Dr. Rehan Sadiq Sheikh, students, and officials. On the occasion, the Vice Chancellor distributed cash awards totaling Rs. 2.3 million among 17 athletes and 7 coaches who secured prominent positions in various sports competitions at the national level. In his address, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali said that Punjab University would continue to play its role in promoting sports alongside academic excellence. He added that the University would extend full support to its athletes at every level. He appreciated the efforts of the Director Sports, his team, athletes and officials, and congratulated the award-winning players and coaches on their achievements.
