On Monday, 15 June 2026, the Institute of Urdu Language and Literature held the public defense of the PhD dissertation of scholar Abdul Shakoor Shakir, entitled “A Research and Comparative Study of Urdu Prosody Books.”
The dissertation was supervised by Dr. Arifa Iqbal, while the external examiners were Dr. Saadat Saeed (Government College University, Lahore) and Dr. Abid Sial (National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad). During the defense, Abdul Shakoor Shakir confidently responded to the questions raised by the examiners and participants.
The external examiners appreciated the scholar's research efforts, congratulated him on the successful defense, and recommended the award of the PhD degree.
The event was attended by BS, MPhil, and PhD students, as well as faculty members of the Institute.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Baseera Ambreen, Director of the Institute, congratulated both the scholar and the supervisor on this achievement and thanked all participants for their presence and contributions.
