PU HCC graduates get 9 CA papers exemptions


LAHORE: (Thursday, October 12, 2023): Punjab University Hailey College of Commerce (HCC) has received RDAI Certificate Award from Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), making history as first public sector institute to achieve this milestone with 9 CA Exemptions for BS Accounting and Finance graduates. In his press statement, HCC Principal Dr Hafiz Zafar Ahmad has said that the journey to this significant milestone began with the visionary efforts of ex-Principal Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, who initiated the development of the BS Accounting and Finance program while former Principal of college Prof Dr Zulfqar Ahmad, launched the degree program during his tenure. He said that the incumbent college administration worked to enhance the value of the BSAF program. He praised the efforts of a member of ICAP and HCC faculty member Prof Salaih Muhammad along with Librarian and focal person for course mapping Asif Ali to achieve this remarkable recognition. The commitment and hard work of all faculty members played a vital role in turning this vision into a reality, he added. In this regard, the award ceremony was organized by HCC and ICAP at Al Raazi Hall in which PU VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood, President of ICAP Ali Latif, Principal HCC Prof Dr Zafar Ahmad, Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam, Dr Zulfqar Ahmad, faculty members and students were present on this occasion. In his address, Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood acknowledged and applauded the ceaseless efforts of HCC’s principals, faculty and staff who tirelessly worked to enhance the value of the degree programs and the college itself. Ali Latif congratulated HCC’s faculty and students for reaching this significant milestone and acknowledged the college's illustrious history, noting that many chartered accountants in Pakistan are proud alumni of HCC. Prof Dr Zafar Ahmad extended his heartfelt appreciation to all those involved and presented souvenirs to the dignitaries. He underlined the college’s commitment to further augment its degree programs. He expressed a strong determination to align other degree programs with ICAP and collaborate with other professional bodies to continue elevating the significance of the degree programs offered by HCC. He said that RDAI Certificate Award from ICAP is a testament to HCC’s dedication to academic excellence and its pioneering efforts in the field of accounting and finance education. He said that this achievement opens up new doors for students at HCC, as graduates from the BS Accounting and Finance program will receive exemptions for nine papers of the CA program offered by ICAP, providing them with a substantial advantage in their accounting careers.
