Performing Art Competition Institute of Applied Psychology, Punjab University organized a National Inter-University Performing Arts Competition on 6th February 2019. Teams from six universities, namely Government College University Lahore, Bahria University Karachi, Lahore Garrision University, University of Lahore, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad and Lahore College for Women University participated in the competition. The theme for the competition was Desensitization of Mental Health Stigmas. Mr. Sibte Hassan, founder, actor, director, writer at Makhotay Theater and actor at Ajoka theater, Mr. Usama Gayyur, anchor at Lahore Rang News channel and Dr. Shazia Qayyum, Assistant Professor and Student Advisor at Institute of Applied Psychology were the judges of National Inter-University Performing Arts Competition. The team from Department of Psychology, GCU secured first position while Institute of Professional Psychology Bahria University, Karachi secured second position. As hosts, The Institute of Applied Psychology also presented a play but did not compete for the competition. In the end, Prof Dr. Farah Malik appreciated the hard work of all the participants and organizers for their efforts. The Chief Guest, for the event, Dean of Life Sciences, Punjab University, Lahore Prof. Dr. Firdaus Bareen also appreciated the hard work of all the teams for their remarkable performances and especially acknowledged the efforts of Institute of Applied Psychology for employing Arts and Dramatics as means to highlight Psychological issues of the society.
